60th Anniversary
On May 28, 2017 the Our Lady of the Prairies Foundation held their 60th Anniversary celebration! The Board of Directors along with the 60th Anniversary Planning Committee began planning this event several years in advance to ensure the impact was significant.
It was decided that to best involve the family, the blood lineage children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Founder J.P. Leier would have the opportunity to distribute funding to their preferred registered charity within Canada. A total of $178,105 was disbursed!
The celebration began with a social and lunch held at the Top of the Inn at the Sheraton Cavalier. Power Point presentations were running throughout the afternoon showing the history of the Foundation along with the many projects that have been funded throughout the years. Families were later introduced and provided time to outline the charities they chose to give money to.
The celebration turned out wonderfully and was not only an excellent chance to connect with family, but also a great opportunity to highlight so many impactful charities.
Below is a listing of the charities who were chosen to receive funding along with a few of the notes we received afterwards.

"Congratulations to Our Lady of the Prairies Foundation for celebrating your 60th Anniversary! Thank you again for choosing Global Gathering Place to commemorate the occasion. Your donation went towards extending our Learn to Camp program in Prince Albert National Park to include canoeing and kayaking instruction and equipment. This was a new Canadian activity for all 50 participants, and made for an unforgettable experience. Thank you for bringing this program to life!"
- Global Gathering Place
"Heartfelt thanks for the very generous donation to the House of Prayer. It is deeply appreciated. From the beginning of this small centre of spirituality in 1995, the Foundation has been a strong and essential supporter. It is no exaggeration to state the house would never have existed except for the generous support from the Foundation and family. With much gratitude and every blessing for the good works of the Foundation."
